United moves five points clear

Manchester United now tops the league with five points after defeating Blackburn Rovers by 2-0. Blackburn were able to stop united from scoring until in the 81st minute when Valencia netted in the first goal. Ashley Young came in as a substitute to seal the victory for the defending champions.
With this result, United are now five points ahead of their closest rival Manchester City who are second in the league table with 71 points.
With just seven games left to play, Manchester United now have the chance of winning the title again in their hands.
In another match played today in Spain, Sevilla defeated Mallorca by 3-1. Alvaro Negredo opened the lead for Sevilla in the 51st minute, while Manu and Jesus Navas scored the other two goals in the 62nd and 68th minutes respectively. The visitors got a consolation goal in the 74th minute by Tomer Hemed.
